Our Photography Style

My approach focuses on natural emotion, soft tones, and creating a relaxed environment where families feel comfortable being themselves.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. When is the best time to book a newborn session?
The ideal time to photograph a newborn is within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are usually sleepier and naturally curl into those beautiful newborn poses. I recommend booking during pregnancy to secure availability, and we can confirm the exact date once your baby arrives.
2. What if my baby arrives early or late?
Don't worry. Your due date is used as a guide when booking. Once your baby arrives, simply get in touch and we'll arrange your session within the ideal newborn photography window.
3. How long does a newborn session take?
Newborn sessions are baby-led and typically last up to 2 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles, and settling your baby without feeling rushed.
4. What should I bring to the session?
Just bring the essentials you would normally need for your baby, such as milk, nappies, wipes, and a spare outfit. Everything else, including wraps, blankets, headbands, hats, and props, is provided.
6. Is the studio warm enough for my baby?
Absolutely. The studio is kept warm and comfortable throughout the session to help babies stay relaxed and sleepy. Your baby's comfort and safety are always the top priority.
7. What should we wear for family photographs?
Neutral, timeless colours work best and help keep the focus on your family rather than clothing. Creams, whites, soft greys, and earthy tones photograph beautifully.
8. Is newborn photography safe?
Yes. Every pose and setup is completed with your baby's safety and comfort in mind. Sessions are always baby-led, and no pose is forced if your baby is uncomfortable.
9. How many images will I receive?
The number of images depends on the package you choose. Full details are provided when booking, and you'll have the opportunity to select your favourite photographs from your gallery.
10. When will I receive my images?
Your gallery is usually ready within 2–3 weeks of your session. During busy periods it may take slightly longer, but you'll always be kept updated.
11. Can I purchase additional images?
Yes. Additional digital images and collections are available to purchase once you've viewed your gallery.
12. Do you edit the photographs?
Every image you receive is professionally edited. This includes colour correction, skin retouching where appropriate, and the removal of temporary newborn blemishes while keeping your baby looking natural.
13. Where is the studio located?
Brewery Lane Photography is based in Queensbury, West Yorkshire, in a comfortable home studio designed specifically for newborn and family photography.
14. What happens if my baby won't settle?
There's no need to worry. Babies are unpredictable and sessions are planned with this in mind. Plenty of time is allowed for feeding, cuddles, and comforting, ensuring a relaxed experience for everyone.
15. How do I book?
Simply get in touch through the contact form, email, or social media. A booking fee secures your session, and I'll guide you through the rest of the process.
